Spiny Box puffers come mostly out of the Florida Bay, which is part of the Gulf of Mexico. These are a medium sized puffer, and fairly common. Like all puffers, they will eat snails, shrimp and crabs, so keep in a FOWLR aquarium. They require a meaty diet, and an aquarium of at least 75 gallons as adults. They can grow to 8", but are anywhere from 1-3" when we ship them. Unlike Balloon and Porcupine puffers, Spiny Box puffers spines are always erect.
